What Sections Your Website Needs to Have as a Social Media Manager

If you don't have a clean and easy-to-navigate website as a social media manager, you're leaving money on the table! Your website is a space you OWN on the internet (unlike social media) – a place where you can share your UVP and what makes you better than other social media managers. It is a one-stop shop for anyone looking to hire you and should include pricing, a portfolio and results, and track your website analytics (essential for knowing how people find you and where you should focus your time).

We know that creating a custom website is an investment, which is why we’ve made Squarespace website templates specifically for social media managers and other online service providers. These templates have all the necessary sections, look stunning, and are easy to install. They’re written for you and come with training videos, so you don’t have to waste time learning how to use Squarespace (we promise it’s easy, though). In just an afternoon, you’ll have this template up and running!

Website Pages for a Social Media Manager

Before you purchase a website template – either from us (we hope!) or someone else – here are all the pages your website needs to have to market yourself best as a social media manager.

Home Page

Your Home Page is your first chance to make a good impression. The hero section on your Home Page, also referred to as ‘above the fold,’ should clearly explain what you do and who you do it for - this might read something like:

“Social Media Management and Content Creation for Health, Wellness, and Nutrition Coaches”

If someone stumbled across your website without having heard of you or your business, would they understand what you do without clicking multiple pages on your website? If the answer isn’t a resounding and immediate YES, it’s time to go back to the drawing board.

Your Home Page is also a chance for potential clients to learn about you and your expertise, your social media management packages and services, your portfolio, and your past clients. If you have a blog or freebie, this is a great place to link to those as well!

Here's a sample layout:

About Page

Contrary to popular belief, your About Page isn’t about you at all – it is about you and your journey to being a freelance social media manager, but positioned in a way that is relevant to your target audience.

Here are some questions your ideal client might have:

  • What background or experience does this social media manager have?

  • How long have they been a social media manager?

  • Can I trust them to do a good job? (hint: this is where testimonials or other social proof helps!)

  • Will I get along with this person? Do we vibe or have a similar personality?

You’re not just selling your services – you’re selling yourself. In such a people-person industry, clients want to feel connected to their social media manager.

Here’s a sample layout for your About Page (take note of that social proof section!):

Want to spice it up? Include some fun facts about yourself as we’ve done on Wood and Co Studio’s website, Lusso by Lisa’s website, and Sam Schmidt’s website. Or swing by our About Page - you’ll see childhood photos of our team - making for a warm and inviting experience.

Services Page

Your Services Page outlines what you do (and don’t do!). Do you only offer social media management? How about social media strategy? One-time audits? Do you also provide email marketing management? Explain exactly what you do and who you do it for, and.. including your PRICING for each of those services

Yes, you should 100% include pricing on your website (we know it’s highly debated, but we feel strongly about this). Potential clients don’t want to dig around for information – tell them what’s included and how much it will cost them. We hate to break it to you, but if they only have $500 for social media management, no amount of overcoming objections or talking through your offers will get them to spend $2,000.

PRO TIP: You can list pricing as:

  • Investment starts at

  • Average investment is

  • Investments range from $x-$x

Be sure to include some portfolio examples sprinkled throughout this page!

Blog

A blog is a great way to show off your expertise and improve your site’s SEO (aka appeal to the Google Gods). If potential customers see that you know what you’re talking about, they will be more likely to want to work with you. Starting off, you only need to upload new blog posts once or twice a month. Remember: quality over quantity! Make sure to touch on social media management subjects that are trendy and evergreen for a nice balance.

Portfolio and/or Testimonial Page

Show off what you’ve done! While your whole website should be a subtle way of saying, “Hire me!” your Portfolio and/or Testimonial Page should be yelling it to every potential client. Feature your favorite past or present clients (with their permission), and even better, try to get a testimonial from them.

Your Portfolio Page shouldn’t be everyone you’ve worked with previously – it should highlight those clients that are your ideal clients so you attract more of them. Some individuals keep the Portfolio and Testimonial Page separate, and some combine them. It depends on how much you want to show off and how many clients you have to show off.

Your portfolio page can include:

  • Mockups of client social media grids and profiles

  • Graphic design samples

  • Copywriting or social media caption examples

  • Most importantly… STATS and ANALYTICS. Clients want to know how this will improve their brand. Share things like impressions, followers, engagement, website traffic, etc.

Here’s a sample layout:

Contact Page

Probably one of the most important pages to a website yet very overlooked – your Contact Page! This page should be linked to as many places as possible so it’s easy for people to contact you and inquire about your services. Most Contact Pages will also have a short form to ensure the individual reaching out to you fits with what you offer (a great way to filter people early on). Remember to check your form often to ensure it works correctly and delivers completed forms to your inbox. You’d be shocked at how many people trying to sell their services have broken forms…

  • PRO TIP: Include a FAQ section on your Contact Page. This can help prevent unnecessary form submissions!

Header & Footer

Don't overlook these two sections of your website! Because they appear on EVERY page, they're extremely valuable marketing space. Your header should include links to all of the pages mentioned above so it's easy for someone to navigate around your website. Your footer is ideal for adding your services page again, email sign-up, job opportunities, privacy policy**, and contact page. If you have social media channels connected to your business, you should always link them to either the header, footer, or both!

** It is a federal requirement to include a Privacy Policy on your website if you collect any customer information - even just their name and email in a contact form. We always suggest opting for a lawyer-drafted Privacy Policy, like this one from Berkley Sweetapple. It’s a one-time purchase that will live on our website forever. Use the code CARLY20 for 20% off - and yes, that is an affiliate code!
